Simple Homemade Hummus

A top-down view of a small white bowl of homemade hummus sprinkled with paprika, served inside a grey platter with fresh carrot sticks and cucumber spears on a marble background.

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • 1 small garlic clove

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons cold water

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: ¼ cup tahini

  • To serve: 1 teaspoon ground paprika or Za’atar

Instructions

  1. Add the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, cold water, and tahini (if using) into a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Taste and add salt as needed. If the hummus is too thick, add a small splash of cold water and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.

  4. Spoon into a bowl, drizzle with a little olive oil, and finish with paprika or Za’atar on top.
